  1. i remember going to #9 school in the mid 1960’s and every flag day we would put on a program out in front of the school now i wonder how many people even reaqlize it is flag day

  2. I remember doing a report on Kearney Cottage, which was the storehouse for Perth Amboy memorabilia, and learned about Thomas Peterson from that visit. Being a strong advocate of civil rights,even as a child, I was always so proud of that part of Perth Amboy’s history..

  3. so, the 1st and 2nd? Nice… but we often do forget who any 2nd person was in most situations… but I guess it’s only logical that right in back or along side of Mr. Thomas Mundy Peterson were other historical black voters prepared to enjoy their new right of voting.

  4. Thanks for the post. One thing. First African-American cast his vote in a local referendum election. We also had the 2nd voter under the 15th amendment. Very special for Perth Amboy.
