Slovakian Pagach — 20 Comments

  1. Just like a turkey on Thanksgiving, everyone at home would fill up to the hilt on the fried then baked breaded flounder, pagach, pierogi and maybe eat some of the veggies with the veggies being the true leftovers LOL

  2. It’s rolled out like a pizza dough but the center contains plain mashed potatoes (no milk or butter) and cheddar cheese. It’s baked until both sides are are golden brown. Then to serve it”s cut into about 6″ squares, slapped with lots of MELTED butter, rolled or folded and eaten… or devoured… I like to have a small condiment bowl with melted and dip mine.

  3. What is this John? It looks great! I’m at PF Chang’s right now eating some fried green beans and shrimp fried rice, haha! I ‘ll look up this recipe when I get home. Looks interesting! Ohhh! I just read it!!!! Sounds delicious!!!!

  4. there is nothing on the outside… potato and cheese on the inside… (click the picture and check out the recipe) Then just before the Good Friday meal the pagach is sliced into large squares and then painted with melted butter.

  5. Good Friday 2013 meal with pagach, pierogi, and breaded fried flounder with a side of sour cream (we also had veggies (not shown). The dinning rm table already had the bowls of melted butter for the pagach.

  6. Just a note… yes, you will see advertizements from Amazon throughout the website. The ads are picked totally by myself as suggestions to help the home cook or baker. If you need something for your kitchen or home, even if not in any of the ads PLEASE use the links anyway on the many recipe pages and then search for whatever you are wanting. Even if you already have an Amazon account you can log in anytime after you make a selection.Thank you!

  8. I prefer to use a fresh pizza dough as it is more elastic which helps when attempting to roll out the filled dough. The dough included on the recipe card contains eggs and does help with that part. A strictly white bread dough, especially the frozen bread dough found in your grocer’s freezer, doesn’t always contain egg.

Just keep the surface well floured and the rolling pin and top of the dough also well floured. Before placing in the over you can always brush off the excess flour.
