Emails and Blogs
So many questions keep coming into my mind. One of them is what I went thru when deciding on how and where will I host my first website.
After reading a lot of material I decided to make my own .com domain and in fact I presently own 5 .com’s but not all are in actively being used. Of course the main reason was to have a clear, business and a professional appearing e-mail address.
Being enrolled to get multiple degrees (in Business, Human Resources, and Marketing), I have learned that an employer actually checks out your email address on a resume and application. Not to send you a message or add you to their contacts but to get a feeling how professional or business savvy you may be. It starts there! So, be careful, because a poorly thought about email address may actually hurt you.
Placing an @ AOL, Yahoo (or ymail) and yes, even gmail for emails by an applicant for a professional job just does not help get that job. Using a funny or suggestive username from places like AOL and Yahoo (example: sexypinkbunny @ ymail .com) doesn’t look good for someone looking for a decent paying position and not especially for a job requiring a college degree or better. You have to brand yourself so be careful including the smallest detail.
Having a domain JUST for setting up an email account is just as important as to how you use a domain name for your brand. Brand yourself and your blog but not your hosting site. Bring registered traffic to your own brand and not someone else’s company (wordpress.com, blogger.com, etc). It’s not just owning your domain name but using your domain to help brand you.
I bring this up because I ran into an article today and I want to share with my friends here (in the community) which mentions a few things about what I wrote here. The next thing we see happening is that having your own personal .com, .net, .info, etc will be as common as having a Facebook page. Check it out…

we all knew, we just didnt want to say anything about it.
shhhhh no one knew that was me… thank you very much
are you still using HotBitch69@hoemail.com I thought i told you long ago to stop using that one 😀
You actually may get passed over because of your email address. The main reason for me sharing this has to do with an email address you use on job applications.
